Year 7 Jack Petchey Talk About Transition workshops

The Talk the Talk transition workshops are a fantastic way to support Year 7 pupils as they move from primary to secondary school. The move is exciting but can also feel daunting, and these sessions help pupils start secondary school feeling ready and confident.

The workshops use communication-based activities and strategies to build self-confidence and resilience. Every pupil is encouraged to take part, whether they're naturally outgoing or more reserved. Through games, group tasks and discussion, pupils practise speaking up, listening to others, working as a team and handling new situations and setbacks. The activities are fun, well-paced and pitched at the right level for this age group.

The facilitators are friendly, enthusiastic and skilled at creating a safe, supportive space where pupils feel comfortable taking risks and being themselves. Pupils make new friendships quickly, and the benefits carry on well beyond the session, with many noticeably more settled and willing to contribute in lessons.
