GAYNES CHRISTMAS CONCERT 2023

Students from Gaynes School performed their Christmas drama and music concert over two nights in December 2023.

The evening opened with the school choir singing popular Christmas carols.

The GCSE Drama groups performed three short devised pieces:  Christmas day In The Workhouse – set in Victorian London and based on a famous poem by George R Sims, Christmas At War – based on stories of soldiers in the trenches during WW1, and a subverted version of the pantomime Cinderella in which Cinders is the villain.

Ana and Sum Tik from year seven and Poppy from year ten played piano solos.

The KS3 Drama Club performed A Christmas Carol – the School Remix in which a miserly headteacher is visited by the spirit of three Christmas ghosts in order to make her change her ways. 

The school rock band played Last Christmas by Wham, before the Year 7 Singers closed the concert with Christmas songs.
