Within the month of September our students took part in the following activities:

  • Elysha Smith in Year 11 came 2nd in the Havering Young Artist competition 2019
  • McDermott taught art lessons at James Oglethorpe as part of our Primary links programme; Ms Caers also taught history at James Oglethorpe
  • Gaynes held a Year 6 open evening which was very well attended. Staff were assisted by pupil guides who performed their roles exceptionally well
  • Year 6 tours and Headteacher meetings continued during the mornings after open Evening
  • PSCHE topics covered were: European Day of Languages, Emotional changes, Responsibility for your learning, Relationships, Handling anger effectively / Friendship, Respecting diversity, Human rights, What are rights and responsibilities, Learning skills –Mind maps and revision techniques, Building resilience and promoting well-being

Assembly topics covered were:

  • Seeking help and support
  • Time management
  • Taking responsibility
  • European Day of Languages

We visited the following places:

Year 11 Geography coursework trip to Westfield Stratford and the Olympic Park

Year 10 Anti-Bullying Ambassadors volunteered at the Romford foodbank

Year 11 All visited the ‘Moving On’ careers event

Year 11 Girls attended a ‘Women in STEM’ technology event


Gaynes took part in sporting fixtures / events:

Year 11 football v Sanders – lost 4-1

Year 10 football v Coopers – lost 5 – 0

Year 9 football v Sanders – won 7 – 2

Year 10 football v Eastlea – won 5 – 2

Year 8/9 netball v Brittons

Year 10/11 netball v Emerson

Gaynes Theatre club started and was well attended
