GAYNES IN THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY

GAYNES IN THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY…….

Within the month of February our students took part in the following activities:

  • Year 10 & 11 Students attended “Futures Evening” where 12 external providers ran careers workshops
  • Year 9 Curriculum evening – department displays of their GCSE course content for option choices
  • Year 11 Half term revision centre for French, Business Studies, PE, History and Geography
  • Year 10 Prefect application process started
  • T. department had engineering boxes from Dyson
  • Year 10 students took part in the initial workshop for the Jack Petchey Speak Out challenge
  • Year 11 sat their second set of assessments
  • Gaynes was named school of the month for the work of the anti bullying ambassadors including Upminster anti bullying march, anti bullying Primary school assemblies at Branfil and James Oglethorpe, food packing for the Romford foodbank and hosting residents from three care homes for a pre Christmas event. Gaynes anti bullying ambassadors have received community badges for this
  • Gaynes launched hot chocolate Friday’s and 24 students have now been nominated by their peers to have hot chocolate and biscuits with the headteacher for their possible contributions to the school
  • Mr Amin went to James Oglethorpe Primary school to teach their gifted and talented maths students as part of Gaynes school transition links
  • PSCHE topics covered were: Safer Internet, mental health, anti bullying, fairtrade

Making decisions under pressure

Fairtrade week

 

We visited the following places:

Year 11 students went to Queen’s Theatre in Hornchurch to see a production of Macbeth to support their GCSE English studies

Year 10 students went to Belgium

 

Gaynes took part in sporting fixtures / events:

Year 9 boys football & Year 9 girls assault course (inter form)

Year 9 boys football against Emmerson Park

Year 10 & 11 boys Handball against Royal Liberty

Year 9 boys Handball against Royal Liberty

Year 8 Sports Leaders run a primary school racket competition at Hornchurch Sports Centre

Year 10 boys football against Bower Park
