The English department set out for the annual October trip to Belgium in early October with Year 10. Miss Fallon, Mr Johnson, Mr Griffen, Miss Caers and Mr Clark were in awe of the fantastic knowledge the students demonstrated as we made our way around various sights in Belgium.
There were many opportunities to reflect about the lives of the soldiers, their emotions, their poetry and the history behind the battles of WW1. Nathan, Danielle and Lewis were chosen to place a wreath in remembrance during the Last Post Ceremony in Ypres; this provided Gaynes with the opportunity to thank the fallen for their heroic sacrifices.
We would like to thank the Year 10 students, their parents and the staff for their support and we look forward to doing it all again next year!
